Problem: 5MG clearwell in need of repair and painting

CMT Solution: Partner with the facility owner and paint manufacturer to effectively specify and execute a surface preparation and coating application system. CMT removed the existing coating using high pressure water jetting, applied one coat of a flexible waterproofer, filled and repaired surface cracks with moisture cured sealant, applied a second application of the flexible waterproofer and finally applied a top coat of self cross-linking acrylic coating with gloss sheen.

The coating minimizes future mold and mildew problems while extending the life of the asset and improving the overall appearance of the plant.  The glossy top coat allows for easy cleaning by the facility staff.  Ultimately, we are proud that this project won a national painting award by the Society for Protective Coatings in February 2007 delivered to CMT, City of Asheville, and Sherwin-Williams.
